Anterior Segment Fellowship
Southwest Eyecare and LASER is proud of our hybrid fellowship opportunity to help young ophthalmologists enrich their surgical skill set while equipping themselves with the tools for a long and successful career within ophthalmology. This is single position 1-year anterior segment fellowship located in Bakersfield, CA.
Dr. Sandeep Singh Walia is the director of the fellowship.

Southwest Eyecare and Laser is a comprehensive eyecare practice with an established reputation of over 35 years of services. The practice is staffed with 4 providers: 2 MDs and 2 ODS. Additionally, Southwest Eyecare and Laser offers our patients will a full optical for their glasses needed and a medical spa for aesthetics. With a staff over 25 team-members, we pride ourselves on offering patients the complete constellation tools for their eyecare needs.
We are located in Bakersfield, CA; an hour and a half north of LA. Applicants are encouraged to either fly directly into Bakersfield or to LAX and drive up. The Southwest Eyecare and Laser anterior segment fellowship is a 1-year fellowship opportunity in southern California. All applicants will be expected to have completed their residency from an accredited ophthalmology residency, eligible for a full California medical license, and without any pending malpractice concerns.
The fellowship will have a core surgical concentration on refractive surgery (e.g. cataract surgery, femto-laser assisted cataract surgery, LASIK, PRK, and ICLs,) and MIGS (Xengel, IStent G2, iStent G2W). Additionally, all associates will have exposure to clinical research opportunity without our partnership CBCC Global research. Our state-of-the-art surgical suite includes Alcon’s Ingenuity 3D display, Ahmed no-tilt gonio scope, Topography guides Wavefront Exciser laser.
Fellowship will start on July 14, 2021 with a completion date of June 31, 2022.
